Background:  St. Joseph was the husband of Mary and the foster father of Jesus.  He is the patron saint against doubt and hesitation.  He is patron of workers and fathers, expectant mothers and families.  He is patron of marriage but he is also called upon often by those who are discerning a vocation to religious life.

Prayer to St. Joseph for Parents (Vocations)

St. Joseph, foster father of Jesus, you sacrificed greatly
to take on the responsibility of being the earthly father of
our Savior.  Without hesitation, you did what you were told
to do by God.  There is perhaps no greater example of sacrifice
on the part of an earthly father as you, St. Joseph.

St. Joseph, guide us in our parenting that we may also know
the redemption which comes from the sacrifices we make for
God, our Father, on behalf of our children and for the whole
world.  Grant us your intercession that we may become parents
who seek God's will always for our children and will not stand
in the way of His holy will for ourselves and for our children.

Amen.
